Washington's New Stadium

The original intent of this blog was to cover more topics than just politics. I had hoped to include architecture, a subject which I have some professional interest. In that vein, a quick look at our new stadium here in Washington.

New Stadiums are always interesting to me as an architect because invariably the sports-writer ends up writing a column as the Architectural Critic. It's always refreshing to hear someone bring an honest, outside opinion. Tom Boswell does an excellent job.

Just looking at the small reproductions of the renderings, I think it could be a very nice stadium. The geometry of the baseball diamond and the surrounding city connect nicely. There are supposed to be excellent views of the monuments and the mall from the stadium.

Anyway, more (maybe) as building starts and certainly after opening day.
