Unprecidented

The San Francisco Gate reports:

An editorial scheduled to appear on Monday in Army Times, Air Force Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times, calls for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
Near as I can figure, (and please, leave a comment if I'm wrong) these publications are not under any sort of military control - they are owned by the Army Times Publishing Company, a subsidiary of Gannet. That said, the editorial is pretty damning. From the SF Gate:
Rumsfeld has lost credibility with the uniformed leadership, with the troops, with Congress and with the public at large. His strategy has failed, and his ability to lead is compromised. And although the blame for our failures in Iraq rests with the secretary, it will be the troops who bear its brunt.

This is not about the midterm elections. Regardless of which party wins Nov. 7, the time has come, Mr. President, to face the hard bruising truth:

Donald Rumsfeld must go.
This is being published the day before an election. Gutsy stuff. We'll see how this plays out.
