The Washington Post reports on gun battles over wells in Somalia.

Villagers call it the "War of the Well," a battle that erupted between two clans over control of a watering hole in this dusty, drought-stricken trading town.

By the time it ended two years later, 250 men were dead.
Think it couldn't happen here? Go visit Las Vegas or Phoenix. Ground water is being used at an incredible rate and populations in the region are growing. A prolonged drought (climate change is coming) could be disastrous.
