The Washington Post reports on gun battles over wells in Somalia.
Villagers call it the "War of the Well," a battle that erupted between two clans over control of a watering hole in this dusty, drought-stricken trading town.Think it couldn't happen here? Go visit Las Vegas or Phoenix. Ground water is being used at an incredible rate and populations in the region are growing. A prolonged drought (climate change is coming) could be disastrous.
By the time it ended two years later, 250 men were dead.
