Ted Haggard on Video w/ UPDATES

New video of Ted Haggard talking about homosexuality from the movie "Jesus Camp."

"We don't have to debate about what we should think about homosexual activity, it's written in the Bible."

There's also a clear opinion on slavery in the Bible too:

  • Exodus 21:20-21 "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money [property]."
  • Exodus 21:26-27 "And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake. And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake."
I guess that means that the 13th Amendment goes against the divine word of God? Where is the effort to repeal that anti-Christian law?

UPDATE I: 11:06 am - Wonkette has the email sent to Haggard's congregation:
From: Pastor Ross Parsley Mailed-By: newlifechurch.org
Date: Nov 2, 2006 10:59 PM
Subject: Update from Pastor Ross

Dear New Lifers and friends of New Life Church,

Many of you have expressed concern about today’s news regarding our pastor. Thank you all for your prayers and support, and for your concern for our church family.

As you’ve likely heard by now, Pastor Ted has voluntarily placed himself on administrative leave as New Life’s senior pastor to allow our external board of overseers to work effectively. Below is the statement that we released to the media on Thursday afternoon.

Since that time, the board of overseers has met with Pastor Ted. It is important for you to know that he confessed to the overseers that some of the accusations against him are true. He has willingly and humbly submitted to the authority of the board of overseers, and will remain on administrative leave during the course of the investigation.
There are transcripts of the phone calls about the meth here. One would think that if Haggard was going to admit to half of the charges, it would be that half. We'll see if 'some' turns out to be 'all' soon enough.

UPDATE II: 11:27 am - From the Denver Post:
Jones [the accuser] told The Post that Haggard contacted him about three years ago through an ad Jones placed in a gay newspaper or on the website Rentboy.com.

[...]

Jones alleged Haggard snorted a small amount of methamphetamine that he brought with him at least a dozen times to enhance the sexual pleasure. Haggard told 9News he's never done drugs.

About six months ago, Jones said, he was watching TV when he saw a History Channel program on the Antichrist that included Haggard as an expert. He researched Haggard on the Internet. "Once I pulled him up, I'm going, 'He's big."'
The Denver Post article also says that in an interview yesterday, Haggard "denied he'd used drugs or had gay sex, saying he's been faithful to his wife." Jones only made two accusations - that Haggard paid him for sex and used meth in his presence. The Email above says that "some of the accusations against him are true." All of those statements can't be true. Somebody's lying.

Pastor Ross Parsley, who sent out the email to New Life Church members is the only one with no reason to lie about what he's said. He has nothing to gain from saying that Haggard admitted something. That makes at least half (though we don't know which half) of what Mike Jones true and at least half of what Pastor Ted Haggard said false.

Cracks begin to appear...
